Embracing Internet Technologies

This week in the Skub mac tips I wanted to talk about embracing Internet technologies. This seems to be a very slow process for the majority of Internet users. The Internet is changing at a rapid pace and I believe the bulk of its users aren’t changing with it. Sure you have bleeding edge users who are taking advantage of the “web 2.0″ revolution. But the majority of the public doesn’t even know what “web 2.0″ really is. It is about using Internet technologies to extend the reaches of human communication to new levels unheard of before. Millions are not experiencing this beyond the plague that is MySpace. I have talked about MySpace before. It’s web design, user interface, and web technologies are horrible! They state in their user agreement that anything you put on MySpace becomes property of myspace.com! Is this what the communication revolution is all about? Stealing content from users hungry to become part of the new Internet? OK, enough MySpace trash talking… I’m not claiming to be totally in-tune with the latest web technologies but I try to keep up. There seems to be a ceiling that is placing a cap of the number of users using the latest web technologies. So my question to you is this. Why is this happening? Are people just not ready for it yet? Do you know what podcasting and RSS are? These are the technologies of the future. Readers of high & low tech backgrounds, lets start a dialogue to figure out what the issues are that are holding the Net back. Why is it that podcasts are capping at 300,000-400,000 listeners? What do you have to say?
