Throughout my time owning a Mac I have been searching for the “perfect web browser”. I have tried Safari, Firefox, Shiira, OmniWeb, Camino, Deskbrowse, and now Flock. Web browsers for the Mac are somewhat strange…you can never find one that can do everything you need. Some have compatibility problems with certain websites, some have quirky design issues, some hog memory like mad, some are slow…the list goes on, but all sort of seem out-of-touch with the new social-centered internet. This brings me to Flock. Flock is based on Firefox so it has great compatibility. Flock takes this a step further though by bringing great integration of social-centered services like Blogger, Flickr, del.icio.us (all 3 of which I use). The integration of these services is so great I can’t go back to not having them integrated! I am typing this blog post right now from within Flock’s blogging tool without ever logging in to Blogger, fantastic! You also can upload, edit, view, and organize Flickr streams right from within the browser. Del.icio.us integration lets you share all your bookmarks or select ones as you find them on the web, another great feature. All of this is very refreshing in a world of plain browsers that lack innovation. If you are the daring sort you can even try the Flock beta builds which have an amazing new UI and has been very stable so far. Either way, you’ll be happy with Flock. O yes, and Flock is Windows, Mac, or Linux so everyone can enjoy the goodness. If your like me and want a web browser that’s innovative and not stuck in the year 2000 download Flock (free of course) and check it out!
