Fighting anti-Semitism

Make a stand against Iranian nuclear weapons

Great video from AJC.  Make a stand and be heard!

History’s Oldest Hatred

History’s Oldest Hatred – Opinion – Israel National News.

A great article title… Antisemitism is indeed “history’s oldest hatred”.

Read this article for a brief introduction to the historical and current analysis on Antisemitism.

Delve deeper with the fantastic book – Why the Jews? A Reason for Antisemitism By Joseph Telushkin and Dennis Prager (mentioned in the article).

Vilified: Telling Lies About Israel

“Hebrew Mamita”

Let me say I’m not usually one to like performance poetry, or poetry at all for that matter. I find the message of this very pertinent though. Watch and reflect.

Gaza civilians as hamas human shields

Gaza victims describe human shield use | Middle East | Jerusalem Post.

Where’s the world outcry? Where’s the revoked diplomatic ties? Where’s the educational institution boycotts?

This is just another sick truth about hamas… I feel great sadness for Palestinian civilians… How could your own “government” do this to you?

Holocaust comparisons

There have been several media accounts recently of politicians and diplomats stating the Israel is “performing its own Holocaust in Gaza”. This is absurd on many levels and extremely upsetting to hear. Not in ANY measure of possible rationality could an EDUCATED person compare the Holocaust to anything that has EVER occurred in Gaza. I think the ONLY thing that you can draw any type of Holocaust comparison to are the genocides in Africa. Seriously, how can anyone with a brain compare the Holocaust to Gaza? Come on! What the fuck!? The latest idiot to do this was a Dutch diplomat. How did you ever get any job in politics? Seriously!?

David Harris, Executive Director of AJC wrote an amazing respone to this ladies accusation. It was so perfectly worded, succienct, and to the point. This is what I would read to any asshole that drew Holocaust-Gaza comparisons. Idiots and racists of the world – get your head out of your ass and get an education! You will accomplish nothing by spreading lies and defaming the spirts of those 6 million of us lost to the Nazi’s.

Today marks International Holocaust Remembrance Day- never forget the truth and horrors of the Holocaust and always fight to prevent them from happening again… Shalom.

The pending anti-Semitic storm

This is a very interesting and maddening story reported by Hareetz…

An International Holocaust Summit on the eve of International Holocaust Rememberance Day (today) determined that Muslim groups have been using Operation Cast Lead to liken Jews to Nazi’s. The massive increase of anit-Semitic attacks seen across the world can only have come from some type of organized movement.  Read the article… it’s highly alarming…

Hamas civilian use in Gaza

So much has been said about the Israeli-Hamas conflict of recent weeks. Many have proclaimed Israel committed war crimes during its offensive defense to protect its people. Much antisemitic and hate speech has come from the reported high Palestinian civilian death-tolls during Israel’s defense.

New information today posted by Haaretz tells of eye-witness accounts of Hamas using civilians to bring their fighters weapons during battle, grossly inflated civilian death tolls (by as much as 1,000), and rigging of civilian homes with explosives to use as weapons against IDF soldiers.

My statement is this. Will you hear about this in any of the other major news networks in the world?! No! Will you continue to hear about Israel’s “excessive use of force” to put it in the lightest context? Yes! You will continue to hear about it because there is so much damn anti-semitism still!!!

Please help support Israel in it’s right to defend its borders. Anti-zionism IS anti-semitism! Don’t support hate, racism and anti-semitism! Look at the work of organizations like the American Jewish Committee (AJC), Anti Defamation League (ADL) (I am members of both), and others who strive to end hate. Do your part and do what is right…

Israel at 60

This article in last weeks Jerusalem Post, to me shows the hope we have with Israel turning 60 this year. The situation is still precariously grim overall in the Middle Ease, but there is great hope. The argument for Israel as the aboriginal homeland of the Jewish people by Irwin Colter could not be more spot-on to me. It surprises me very much how some people do not understand this relationship of the Jewish people and their homeland still today. Read this article, a truly great piece of writing…

Yom HaShoah- Jerusalem

Today is Yom HaShoah – Holocaust Remembrance Day. This video shows the moment of silence in Zion Square in Jerusalem today. May the 6 million Jews that died in the Holocaust never be forgotten…

Anti-Semitism & Anti-Zionism

I came across this today and found it a remarkably poignant thing to discuss with the recent escalation of violence in Gaza and Israel. This select writing from Martin Luther King explains the situation of Anti-Semitism very thoroughly, and is very topical today coming on the heels of a report of increased worldwide anti-semitism.

- Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

“. . . You declare, my friend, that you do not hate the Jews, you are merely ‘anti-Zionist.’ And I say, let the truth ring forth from the high mountain tops, let it echo through the valleys of God’s green earth: When people criticize Zionism, they mean Jews–this is God’s own truth. “Antisemitism, the hatred of the Jewish people, has been and remains a blot on the soul of mankind. In this we are in full agreement. So know also this: anti-Zionist is inherently antisemitic, and ever will be so.

Terrorism will solve nothing

Jewlicious has a heartfelt post today about the yeshiva shootings in Jerusalem yesterday, leaving 8 dead and many more wounded. No doubt this was in retaliation for the recent IDF offensive in Gaza, killing over 100 Palestinians. These recent events are deeply troubling.

I hope and wish that violence will end in Israel and Gaza and the Peace Talks will resume with renewed passion between Israel and Hamas. Continued violence will bring no resolution to the Gaza conflict, or to Israel. Terrorism is not an allowable social action. Ever.

It baffles me how Muslim extremists cannot understand this…

My heart goes out to the innocent victims of yesterdays terrorist shooting in Jerusalem. They were children and young adults mostly ages 15-19 learning at yeshiva to make the world a better place.

A provocative look at terrorism in Jerusalem

Reading the great blog: My Shrapnel, by Gila Weiss today, I came across her post about the traveling exhibit inside terrorism: the x-ray project. The exhibit is composed of x-rays taken of civilian terrorist attack victims in Jerusalem’s two largest hospitals. This is a haunting look into what people are capable of when they are polluted by the corrupt ideals that terrorism is an allowable answer for anything. View with care. Some of the x-rays are fairly graphic, but display the brutal truth of terrorism like no other.

Chanukah sunset

Today is day 1 of the Festival of Lights. I though this sunset far to breathtaking not to share. Happy Holidays from the Great White North! P.S. I started a new Sunsets set on flickr.

Jewish Historical Museum Auction

So the event is finally over. So much preparation… My artwork, El Transito ended up selling for $480. My first step into the art world is now complete. Let’s see what this brings about… The event itself was very nice. It did very well for the museum. Scope the pics of the ballroom and the art display area where El Transito made its final stand before heading to its new home.

El Transito

CIMG3471.jpgI wanted to drop a line real quick to show my first commercial artwork, El Transito. It’s 20′x30″ and took me over 60 hours to complete. It’s for the Alaska Jewish Historical Museum Annual Fundraiser on November 17th. It feels good to have such a big project done. On to the next!

UNESCO Holocaust education plan

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) announced plans today for a Holocaust education program; specifically targeting Holocaust denial and awareness. This is good coming from such a large global organization, and should mean much for Holocaust education. How we don’t repeat the atrocities of history is through education and awareness. Educating people about the Holocaust and combating Holocaust denial is what needs to be done, for all of humanity. I hope this program succeeds, this is extremely important.

Tribe: The Film

Tribe: The Film is a documentary about the history of the Jewish people up to present, narrated by Peter Coyote. The film tries to answer 2 main questions: What does it mean to be an American Jew today? What does it mean to be a member of any tribe in the 21st Century?

The Film is done in a very modern (our generation) sort-of-way, and especially applies to 18-35 year-old Jews (like myself). This film is dead-on about the problems young adult Jews face today (cultural identity, religious observance, assimilation, etc.) The beauty of this film is that these same ideas can be applied to anyone of any culture in todays modern, global world, where cultures interact and mix daily. This film really helps define what it means to have a cultural identity and to be proud of it and embrace it. You can view the trailer here and the film is available on iTunes for $1.99.

Holocaust denial

Today while speaking at Columbia University, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad continued his blind denial of the Holocaust, calling it a justification for Israeli mistreatment of Palestinians. The president of Columbia University, Lee Bollinger, had a bold response to this statement. “You are either brazenly provocative or astonishingly uneducated. Will you cease this outrage?” Also later stating “The truth is that the Holocaust is the most documented event in human history.” I get so frustrated and saddened when I hear claims of Holocaust denial. It shows the true potential cruelty of human nature in its darkest form…
