Redoubt volcanic ash hits Kincaid beach
Yesterday started out as an innocent trip to Kincaid beach – after about an hour it turned into a volcanic ash showdown! Ash from Redoubt volcano hit Anchorage and came in off of Cook Inlet right at Kincaid beach.
Updates…
Sorry all, work has kept my very bust lately. Although I haven’t been writing new posts for a while, I have been keeping busy updating SHOTS FIRED. So check out the new pics and new Flickr integration to provide more control and options for all. I’m out!
Changes to SHOTS FIRED

Some of you may have noticed the new SHOTS FIRED galleries up on the page navigation. Fully integrated with Flickr, using their API and featuring Lightbox (so cool when you see it, just click on a pic to check it out), the galleries are greatly improved and include all my albums!
So enjoy the new SHOTS FIRED, your one-stop for all iSKUB Flickr photos (if you need to get to iSKUB photos on Flickr it is under Skub Links in the right sidebar).
Also of note is my latest and greatest AK adventure, Spring Kincaid.
The trip featured Ann & Bodie and some of the best sunset, and most surreal ice/sand/mud picks I have ever captured. The sunset was so radiant… If someone ever needed a reason why I live where I do I would just tell them to see these pics… This is why I live in Alaska.
Justin returns to the GC
Yesterday Justin made his glorious return to the GC with us. We made quick work the fresh powder with myriad jumps, wipe-outs and downhill runs! View all the pics in the set below.
Mythbusters shoot
I got to help out with a Mythbusters shoot on Thursday out at AWCC. They were filming for an upcoming Alaska myths episode to air this spring. The cast and crew were fantastic and great to hang out with. We had a blast. Tory, Kari, and Grant, thanks for the pics! You guys are the best! Come back up to Alaska anytime!
SD870 IS sunset
New camera alert! I have a Canon SD870 IS now. This is one awesome ultracompact camera. Check the sunset shot I captured this eve. Always good stuff.

Return to action!
I’m back! After 6 weeks of rest from my cartilage break I was back on the snow with Trev, Ann and Bodie this past weekend skiing like mad! It feels good to be back. Enjoy the pics.

Vintage Trimble action!
This one goes out to DA and Hannah for their work recovering and digitizing these awesome Trimble Racing archives over at DA’s flickr stream. These are some classic shots from the glory days of Trimble Racing at its finest. Hope you guys find even more gems such as these. Keep up the good work in documenting the family racing history! Hut ya! Check out Moose in this pic directly below (on the far right)! That’s right, that’s my Dad in the bottom pic!

Chanukah sunset
Today is day 1 of the Festival of Lights. I though this sunset far to breathtaking not to share. Happy Holidays from the Great White North! P.S. I started a new Sunsets set on flickr.
The Snow Cat
The day had arrived. This past Friday. The celebratory first Snow Cat run. The conditions were wet and heavy snow on the trek up, and bright and sunny skies for day two, with crisp, powdery snow. Enjoy the pics. This was an awesome trip. The Snow Cat is amazing! An overnight trip to the GC with the parents and Trev & Ann was a sure cure for the no-snow hometown blues…
A fresh winter ski…
So after the event was complete, it was time for some outdoor R&R. Onto Kincaid with a fresh blanket of powder to ski! My new backcountry skis are breaking in quite nicely… We’re really getting some nice snow this year. The Goldcord awaits this coming weekend.
Snow has arrived
We had a record snowfall yesterday of 6.5″. Came across this guy in the depths of Kincaid. Excellent! Looks like winter is finally here.
November Kincaid
This is not your typical November winter Kincaid scene. What a beautiful day!

Winter walk
I went on my first winter tromp through the woods today in the wilds of Kincaid. It was a beautiful day. The forest was very erie being halfway between winter and fall. Scope the gallery. It was such an awesome day. Here’s to a good winter season!
Eklutna Fall colors
We had an amazing time on a hike to Twin Peaks today at Ekluta (1,000′+ climb). The Fall colors were amazing! Soon Winter will be upon us… This water droplets leaf pick and more are up @ the Eklutna Trip Gallery.

At the AWCC

We got to go visit JB (Joe Boxer) yesterday out at AWCC. Here he is sitting up for some snacks. That's ~800 lbs. of 2/3 grown AK grizzly bear! He is AWESOME!
I've setup an @ AWCC gallery now since we're out there so much.
and the next adventure is…
Haught August Nights! So right after the Trimble Trip, we jumped right into Haught August Nights, and it went off with a bang! How about 3 days of fossil digging through 300 million years of earth history? We hit the Paleozoic, Mesozoic, and Cenozoic on this one all while staying in the AK. 500 miles… one trilobite, a vicious wind storm, the pipeline, an ammonite, petrified wood(s), and a giant Inoceramid later… and our mission was complete, enjoy. Dead black bear in Kincaid
DA was on a morning ride and came across a dead brown black bear that was shot in the neck at Kincaid 1 week ago… Local biologists have to leave it as it is too big and bloated… So if your in the neighborhood go check it out. Check this and more at the Trimble August '07 SHOTS FIRED gallery.
