Now this is a cool series of finds! Found on Spitspergen in 2006 and excavated in August 2007. A  Jurassic treasure trove of marine reptiles, including a 50 foot long pliosaur that is a new species (pic). This thing had flippers that were over 10 feet long. Amazing!Other marine reptiles such as pleisiosaurs, ichthyosaurs, and another pliosaur that is potentially as big as the first were also found in the same formation. It is very exciting to hear of Arctic discoveries like this, because it gives greater potential for other Arctic, maybe even Alaskan finds of marine reptiles

Scientists today announced confirmation that Velociraptor had feathers. Paleontologists found quill knobs on Velociraptor femurs, confirming that the Cretaceous predators had feathers and are absolutely related to birds. In the totally awesome category… A hadrosaur mummy find in North Dakota has been announced today that is absolutely spectacular. Follow the link for the Nat Geo article.
